6 Amazing Facts About Quba Mosque in Madinah

According to several sources, 622 AD was the founding date of the mosque right after prophet Muhammed arrived on his emigration from holy capital of Saudi Arabia, Makkah. Quba Mosque is located on the outskirts of Madina.

1). Significance of Quba Mosque

Omar bin Abdul Aziz also done a great job by constructing the very first minaret on this Mosque. Abu Yali Al-Husaini also overhaul this whole Mosque in the era of 435 A.H.

Narrated ‘Abdullah bin Dinar: Ibn ‘Umar said, “The Prophet used to go to the Mosque of Quba every Saturday (sometimes) walking and (sometimes) riding.” ‘Abdullah (Ibn ‘Umar) used to do the same. (Collected by Muhammad al-Bukhari, Sahih al-Bukhari Volume 2, Book 21, Number 284)
Quranic Verse

There is also a Quranic verse (Ayat) on this prestigious Mosque stated as follows:

Never stand (to pray) there (referring to a place of worship in which the hypocrites had used for harm and disbelief, as mentioned in the previous ayah). A place of worship which was founded upon duty (to Allah) from the first day is more worthy that thou should stand (to pray) therein, wherein are men who love to purify themselves. Allah loveth the purifiers. Qur’an, Surah 9 (At-Tawba), ayah 108

According to the Hadith Mubaraka the one who performs waddu/ablution and offers two Nafilat the Mosque Quba get a reward of an Umrah.

The Hadith Of this performance is as follows:

“The one who purifies himself (make waddu/ablution) in his house and comes to Quba Mosque and offer prayer therein, will have a reward for like that in Umrah”

  1. The capacity of Masjid-e-Quba is around 20,000 people at a time.
  2. The northern area of Quba Mosque is dedicated for the ladies so that they can offer their prayers in that section.
  3. The Quba Mosque has 4 minarets (towers) and 56 domes (roofs, ceilings or auditoriums).
  4. These 4 minarets and 56 domes are connected to a house of Imams and muezzins, a library and a place for the guards in a part of 112 sq. meters, and a marketable center with 12 shops covering an area of 450 sq. meters.
  5. The Quba mosque has 64 toilets for men and 32 toilets for women.
  6. The Quba Mosque also has 42 units for ablution (Wudu/ablution).
