The toll cabins have not been built on the Jeddah-Makkah highway and no toll tax is being imposed. The rumors spread on social media regarding highway toll tax are baseless.

According to local newspaper, the Ministry of Transport tweeted that the check post on Jeddah-Makkah highway has been expanded so that people do not face unusual crowds at the check post during the Hajj and Umrah season.

There were unusual reports on social media that the Ministry of Transport had set up special cabins at Shamsi check post to enforce the toll tax system, which was also increased in number. He clarified these statements saying that, there is no truth in what is being said on social media. After the expansion of Shamsi check post, 18 checkpoints have been set up there instead of 5 so that people do not face any difficulty during the season.
