RECENTLY, IT WAS REPORTED THAT THE RELEVANT SAUDI AUTHORITIES HAVE ARRESTED AND TAKEN THE CUSTODY OF 4 BURGLARS WHO THEFT MONEY FROM ONE OF THE MONEY TRANSFER COMPANIES. THE AUTHORITIES ACTUALLY USED THE SATELLITE CONNECTIVITY TECHNOLOGY TO TRACK THE SUSPECTS WHO RAN FROM THE PLACE WHERE THE INCIDENT OF ROBBERY TOOK PLACE.
Who Made the Robbery Plan?
The investigation described that the plan was made with the collusion of 4 different robbers. One of the members of the robbery team was working in one of the money transfer companies. This guy acted as an insider and provided to his accomplices with the inside information related to the movements of money transfer employees in charge of filling ATM machines’ vaults.
How the Robbery Took Place?
Based on the above information leaked by the employee of the money transfer company, on the day of the burglary, the perpetrators (the other Robbery team members) disguised himself and dressed as a cleaner. The time when the Company’s employees who were responsible to fill ATM machine vault with the money reached the location, the burglar dressed himself as a cleaner pulled out a gun and asked the money transfer guys to hand over the money to him and the guys when forced by a gun handed over the money to the burglar.
How the Burglars Escaped?
After the robbery, the guy who stole the money escaped with one of his other accomplice on a motorcycle. Both of them reached to the third member of the team who was waiting for him in the car. The burglar having money with him got into the car and the other perpetrator (the other Robbery team members) dropped him into the car and took the motor bicycle and left in order to mislead the police and divert their attention which was behind him.
Subsequent to some days after the robbery took place, one of the perpetrators left the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and hid in one of the neighboring country. The authorities actually used the Satellite connectivity technology to track the suspects who ran from the place where the incident of Robbery took place. Saudi Arabia had an extradition treaty with that neighboring country where the burglar hid himself and that country handed over that guy to the Saudi authorities on their request.
The investigation resulted in the indictment of the three perpetrators and their accomplice for the armed robbery of SR850,000 ($221,000).
The law enforcement authorities have launched a separate investigation to inspect and establish the security capabilities of the money transfer company and its compliance with employees’ security requirements.
