Procedure of Gifting a Car to the Relatives in Pakistan

The procedure of car gift scheme has been made easy and transparent for overseas Pakistanis by the government of Pakistan. Overseas Pakistani in Saudi Arabia and other countries can send their used vehicles to their close relatives in Pakistan once in two (2) years.

This can be of two (2) types which include gift scheme and personal baggage that is sent through the final exit. What procedure would be followed? Which documents are required for the transfer of vehicle? To know more, keep reading.

Limit of the used Car under this Scheme

Under this scheme, a (5) five-seater vehicle should not be more than three (3) years old. Similarly, the (7) seven-seater should not be more than five (5) years old.

How can the Vehicle be Gifted to a Relative in Pakistan?

A vehicle import form is issued by the Commercial Section of the Pakistani Embassy or Consulate under which the vehicle can be gifted to a blood relative in Pakistan. (Download form)

Will the Imported Vehicle be Duty-Free?

The general impression among the people is that a vehicle sent under the gift scheme will be duty-free, but this is not the case. However, customs duty is levied on the old vehicle.

Payment of Custom Duty

In order to pay customs duty, the sender of the vehicle from the state must also transfer the amount of duty from outside. Duty will be collected on the arrival of the vehicle in Pakistan.

Also, upon arrival of the vehicle in Pakistan, the customs officials calculate the duty according to the vehicle based on the letter issued by the embassy or consulate. This completes the process of vehicle transfer.

Is there any Monthly Income Limit for Sending a Vehicle to Pakistan?

There is no minimum monthly income limit for sending a vehicle to Pakistan, but the applicant must stay in the country for two (2) consecutive years or more.

Documents Required for the Car Gift Scheme

The following documents are required for the car gift scheme.

  1. Copy of Saudi Iqama.
  2. Certificate of monthly Salary certified by the Chamber of Commerce.
  3. Copy of passport that was stamped upon the first arrival to Saudi Arabia.
  4. Photocopy of the identity card of the nominated person that is being gifted with the car in Pakistan.

The procedure of car gift scheme has been simplified. The letter is being issued immediately by the embassy or consulate upon submission of the required certified documents.
