The team is organized by the Saudi Cricket Center, which became an affiliate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2003 and associate member in 2016.

Saudi Arabia made its international debut at the 2004 Asian Cricket Council (ACC Trophy) in Malaysia, and since then has played regularly in Asian Cricket Council (ACC) tournaments. After finishing second in the 2014 ACC Elite League, the team qualified for the World Cricket League for the first time.


In April 2018, the ICC decided to grant full Twenty 20 International (T20I) status to all its members. Therefore, all Twenty20 matches played between Saudi Arabia and other ICC members after 1 January 2019 will be a full T20.

Saudi Arabia have also played in the Twenty 20 format of the game in the 2007 ACC Twenty 20 Cup, in which they failed to progress beyond the group stage, and the 2009 ACC Twenty 20 Cup, in which they were ranked on 8th position.

The Saudi Arabia’s Faisal Khan blasted third quickest Half-Century in Just 15 balls

On Thursday Faisal Khan stroked the third fastest half-century in a T20 International, taking 15 deliveries to reach the milestone. In a chase of 136 against Kuwait during an ACC western region T20 contest, Faisal blasted a match winning un- beaten innings and stroked seven fours and as many sixes.

Khan’s effort is also the fourth fastest in T20s, but there are three more players who have scored a half-century in 15 balls in T20 cricket.


Saudi Arabia to set up cricket Academy

Saudi Arabia will soon set up a cricket academy in Jeddah. Saudi Arabia is also planning to stage an international festival match comprising former cricketers from India and Pakistan.

They approached Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board for technical support, they also have received financial assistance from the Asian Cricket Council and they are all set to start the academy. Moreover, Saudi Arabia are also in the process of taking over a vacant football stadium and converting it for cricket.
