Why is this Decision to Ban Photography and Videography Banned?
The Saudi officials explained the reason behind the ban of videography and photography saying,
This step is taken to ensure the respect and dignity of these holy places. Most of the pilgrims waste their time in taking pictures and videos then praying. This not only is disrespectful to the place but also interrupts the prayer of others.
A similar decision was taken in 2017 as well when an Israeli entered the Holy Mosque and took a photograph and uploaded it on Facebook, which created havoc. However, it is appreciable than the officials finally decided as the people had forgotten the real essence and prestige of the place while being busy in social media, checking in to these places, and uploading pictures for publicity.
