Saudi Expat Work Visa Validity Reduced to One Year
Earlier the employment visas issued for the private sector companies in Saudi Arabia used to bear the validity of two years from the date of its issuance. The companies used to pay the cost of the visa issued for the validity of two years for the Saudi expat ’workers. However, there is a change in Saudi expat work visa validity from the announcement by the relevant Ministry.
The Announcement by the Ministry of Labor and Social Development
In the line with Saudi Vision 2030 set by the Kingdom, The Ministry of Labor and Social Development has already announced and implemented last year that the validity of the employment visas issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Development for private sectors has been reduced from two years to one year. An Exception to the Rule
According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, the above rule and directions will not be applicable for visas issued to government servants as well as the domestic workers, it means that such restriction is applicable for private sector companies only. Foreign Mothers of Saudis
The Ministry of Labor and Social Development has already allowed since last year that the foreign mothers of Saudis to work in those professions which are restricted only to Saudi nationals.
Non-Saudi Children of Saudi Women Allowed to Work
The Ministry of Labor and Social Development has already allowed since last year that the non-Saudi children of Saudi women to work in those professions which are restricted only to Saudi nationals. Read: Saudization in 3 key sectors starting from November 2018
If anyone of the above (the foreign mothers of Saudis as well as non-Saudi children of Saudi women) is employed in any organization will be counted as one Saudi employee while calculating the percentage of Saudization/ Nitaqat program.
