Saudization in 3 Key Sectors
In line with the measures taken by the kingdom to achieve the set targets of the VISION 2030, the Ministry of Labor and Social Development will soon start implementing the Saudization in 3 key sectors from upcoming November 09, 2018. Recommended: Two years ban on expats leaving on final exit
The said implementation of Saudization was planned to initiate in different phases, the details of each phase has been briefed as follows:
Under the first phase, the ministry has started implementing 70 percent Saudization in the following professions:
- Car and motorbike showrooms.
- Shops selling ready-made garments for men and children.
- Home and office furniture shops.
- Shops selling kitchenware.
Such implementation mentioned above under Phase 1 has been started by the relevant Ministry effective from September 11, 2018 (Muharram 1, 1440).
As per the continuous plan of Saudization, the Ministry intends to nationalize 70 percent of jobs in the second phase of Saudization of 12 major sectors. The followings are the professions to be affected:
- Electrical and electronics shops.
- Watch shops.
- Optical stores.
The third phase of Saudization will start from January 7, 2019 (Jamad Al-Awwal 1, 1440). This will cover the followings:
- Medical equipment stores.
- Outlets selling all types of carpets.
- Building material shops.
- Outlets selling car spare parts.
- Pastry shops.
The Ministry has setup male and female inspectors who will start raids on these shops and strict measures will be taken against the violators of the abovementioned regulations.
HRDF Employment centers
The Human Resources Development Fund (HADAF) has transformed its branches across the Kingdom into employment centers to support Saudi jobseekers. Khaled Abalkhail, the spokesman of the fund, said that as many as 22 branches of HADAF in various cities and regions of the Kingdom have been transformed into specialized centers to support job seekers take up jobs in the private sector. He also unveiled plans to establish three mobile branches soon to provide specialized job orientation courses and qualitative consultancy services for job seekers.
