Amidst the arising issue of Coronavirus, and the upcoming grand festive of Muslims, people were worried whether they would be able to perform Taraweeh in Mosques. However, with the recent statement passed by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, orders are officially passed to not hold any preparations of Taraweeh prayer during Ramadan. Eid Prayer won’t be Performed in Saudi Arabian Mosques

According to the recent statement passed by the Saudi Arabia’s grand mufti it is clearly said,

People will have to perform Taraweeh and Eid prayers at home to prevent spreading Coronavirus.

How will people perform Eid prayer at home?

Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah Al-Sheikh responded to people’s query of how to perform Eid prayer saying,

If the status quo persists, making it impossible to hold Eid prayer at mosques, people will have to pray at home and no sermon will follow the Eid prayer.

Is Praying Eid prayer at home According to the Teaching of Islam?

He further told people that the Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Iftah had issued a Fatwa that performing Eid prayer at home without a sermon following it is in light of teaching of Islam. He said,

If making up the prayer for those who missed it with the imam is desirable, this gives us all the more reason to perform the prayer in countries where the congregation is not held because this includes performing the ritual however possible.

What Guidelines are given by the Mufti Regarding Zakat Al Fitr?

OIC enlightened people about the Sharia and protecting human lives

The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), told people about one of the five imperatives of Sharia that is saving lives, especially in the face of an invisible enemy, where all components of society had the duty to fight it. In a video call held by the OIC International Islamic Fiqh Academy (IIFA) about the global health emergency he said,

The participants in the symposium have a great legal and humanitarian responsibility to explain Sharia provisions about dealing with this pandemic, raising awareness of its seriousness, and highlighting the licenses and necessities called for in studies of Fiqh of calamities. We also need to urge everyone to adhere to the necessary preventive measures taken by governments to confront this pandemic.
